How Does A Tired Teacher Celebrate the Last Day of School?

Why, with cake and ice cream in bed, of course!

last day of school

If you are a teacher reading this, I KNOW I don’t have to tell you how tired I am. I don’t think I even fully understand it. It’s weird though because it didn’t hit me until I got home. I guess I’ve been running on adrenaline for a few weeks. Now I get to relax and lay in bed with my dessert & my dog!

My school just completed its first year as a Fine Arts and Dual Language Academy. The dual language will roll up with this Kinder class, but the fine arts has already started for everyone! There is construction going on all summer so my stuff has been all boxed up and moved in to my new classroom (along with 3 other people’s stuff) and we won’t be able to go into school all summer. I am so glad for a much needed break!

third grade

If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve already heard, but when school starts back in the fall, I will be teaching THIRD GRADE! I’ve taught first for 6 years and I am so excited and ready for a new challenge. I’m also glad to be going up in grade level instead of down, because I figure that I can only be pleasantly surprised with what the kids are capable of doing…. maybe, just MAYBE, I’ll only have to say things 5 times instead of 8 times! :)

A girl can dream, right?

In the meantime, I will be spending the summer trying to learn as much as I can about 3rd grade. I will also be spending plenty of time at the pool and relaxing with my dogs!

If you are already on summer break, I hope you are enjoying yourself! If you aren’t yet, hang in there. You will be able to eat cake in bed soon! :)

  1. Funny, I’ve been following your blog as a 1st grade teacher and now I will be moving to 3rd grade in another school and district. I am in the search for great 3rd grade teacher blogs that can help me. Will you be teaching all subjects? Anyway I’m so excited for the change and challenge as well!

  2. That’s so funny! :) I’m so excited too…. as well as nervous! I will be teaching Language Arts and Social Studies to 2 classes. I’ve been scouring the internet for good blogs and info too. Thanks for following my blog & good luck!! :)

  3. Hope you have a great year in 3rd grade! I am also a 3rd grade Texas teacher and have been working on my TPT store all summer. I mostly have reading/language arts and character development stuff. I love teaching writing, because I realize what an important foundation it is for them to see themselves as writers. I celebrated the last day of school by going to a movie and eating popcorn!
