A Bright Idea: Student Mailboxes Made Easy

Hello readers! I am so excited today to be linking up for my first ever Bright Ideas Blog Hop.
I am here today to tell you all about how I made over my student mailboxes.
I used to have this monstrosity:
mailboxes
I always struggled with where in my classroom to put it! The sections at the top were too tall for my first graders and they would end up standing on the shelves to see into their mailbox. It also made me crazy to lose a student or gain a student and then the names not be in their number order.
So this year, I decided to change it up. I got rid of the huge mailboxes I had and got a basket and some file folders. Now my students can easily see into their mailbox AND the names are always in order!! :)  Plus, takes up less room so I have a matching basket that my kids put their take home binders into every morning. This system is perfect for me and my kiddos and I’ll never go back to my old mailboxes!

  1. I've always struggled with this .I love my mailboxes because they're so much easier for me to file into, but they take up so much space! This is a great idea and I think my parent helper would love it, too! Thanks :)

  2. Hi Cassie!! I use the same idea except with their math seatwork. I worried they would not find the inside of their files when putting stuff away, but they do a great job! Your classroom is always adorable and perfectly organized!

  3. I used this idea this year, too. I also changed from the huge mailbox, just like the one you had. I have a lot more room and it is much easier to manage. Thanks for sharing!
